ROBERTO Di Matteo has challenged Chelsea's young guns to become first-team regulars.
Romelu Lukaku, Josh McEachran and Ryan Bertrand made just a handful of Premier League starts between them last campaign as they failed to cement regular places under the Italian or axed coach Andre Villas-Boas.
Striker Lukaku has failed to find the net since his switch to Stamford Bridge last summer, while McEachran was shipped out on loan to Swansea City, only to spend most of his time at the Liberty Stadium stuck on the bench.
But new Blues boss Di Matteo will give all three youngsters, along with Kevin De Bruyne, the opportunity to stake a claim during the club's pre-season tour to the United States.
He said: “We have a lot of youngsters like Lukaku, Josh McEachran, and Ryan did well last season.
“They will all be here pre-season with us. I'll be looking at them and see how they are developing and progressing. It's down to them.”
