Rafael Nadal survives scare to reach quarter-finals

TOP seed Rafael Nadal had a scare before moving into the last eight with a hard-fought win against Denis Istomin.

The Spanish star edged the first set on a tie-break, but went down 6-4 in the second.

Nadal received treatment for an injury and had to save two break points in the seventh game of the final set as he came under pressure from the Uzbekistani.

The World No.1 then broke and served for the match, wasting two match points as Istomin fought back.

However, Nadal held his nerve at the third time of asking to set up a quarter-final with Feliciano Lopez as he came through 6-4.
