MARK Hughes has given Joey Barton a choice – the disgraced midfielder either goes out on loan or he trains with the QPR kids.
His manager reckons French giants Marseille is Barton’s (pic) best bet – or the man facing a 12-match ban following incredible scenes at Manchester City on the last day of the season trains in exile with academy prospects.
Hughes also indicated there was no way back for a player who has burned all his bridges at Rangers.
“He’s got a three-year contract,” said Hughes, “but as I explained to Joey, he wasn’t going to be in my 25 and he needed to look at his options.
“He could come back here and train with the FDS (development squad) – but he wouldn’t be training with the full squad.
“There have been other options, but he didn’t think they were right, but this one makes sense for him and certainly for us.”
However, the Rs manager pointed out he was still awaiting a concrete approach from l’OM despite media speculation.
“I’ve seen the speculation, but although there has been interest, there has been no direct communication as regards a player swap with Marseille,” the manager added.
