MARK Hughes has challenged Akos Buzsaky to keep his place in QPR's starting XI.
The Hungarian admitted he had considered his future in W12 after being restricted to a bit-part role under Neil Warnock.
But the arrival of Hughes, coupled with a serious knee injury to Alejandro Faurlin, has handed the midfielder a Loftus Road lifeline.
And Hughes has thrown down the gauntlet to the 29-year-old to keep his spot alongside Joey Barton in the engine room.
He said: “It's a big loss to lose Ale because he was influential on the team.
“It was disappointing from my point of view as I've admired him from afar and felt he was a big influence on the field.
“But we have got good players in the building who need to take up the mantle and say 'this is my opportunity to have an impact on Premier League games'.”
