NEIL WARNOCK praised Danny Shittu and Fitz Hall for their 'magnificent' defensive display which justified his gamble to break up his tried and trusted central defensive partnership.
Matt Connolly and Kaspsars Gorkss were rested with Warnock citing tiredness as the reason, rather than injury.
Shittu and Hall defied the lack of first team action to lay the foundations for another clean sheet and a 2-0 victory which keeps QPR head and shoulders above their pursuers in the Championship.
“I have to praise the two centre halves. They've not played for months and I thought they were absolutely immense,” Warnock said.
“We were thinking of bringing Danny off with 15 minutes to go because he was cramping up. He couldn't run at the end. But if they can keep themselves fit, then it will be a great plus for the squad. I thought they were magnificent tonight.”
Warnock added: “I was thinking about changing one [of the central defenders] but thought to hell with it really. They both played well together in the reserves, they both compliment each other, so I thought why not the pair of them?
“I did think about changing it at Preston on Saturday but went with an air of caution. The other two have done really well, but I feel they needed a rest. They've been looking a bit tired. We've had a lot of games.
“We've got such a good squad now that I think we can do that now. It's great to change it and still keep a clean sheet.”
