MARSEILLE president Vincent Labrune confirmed Chelsea target Cesar Azpilicueta wants to join the reigning European champions.
The 22-year-old Spanish international featured alongside Juan Mata and Oriol Romeu in the London Olympics and would replace the departed Jose Bosingwa.
The versatile Branislav Ivanovic has occupied the right back slot throughout his time at Stamford Bridge but lacks the attacking prowess required of a modern-day full back.
Labrune told ESPN: “Chelsea have made a serious approach for Cesar. I have spoken to Chelsea's sporting director and they are easy to deal with. We have told them the price and they will come back and agree with it or not.
"We would much prefer the player to sign a new contract and extend his stay with us, but he wants to go to Chelsea and it's a good club so we cannot stand in his way.”
Azpilicueta is valued at around ten million euros but Chelsea youngster Gael Kakuta could move in the opposite direction to help close the deal.
The 21-year-old has failed to hold down a regular spot in the first team after showing real promise in the youth ranks.
