ANDRE Villas-Boas has no regrets about his decision to drop big name stares for key games this season.
Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Michael Essien were benched for the Champions League match away to Napoli, which Chelsea lost 3-1.
All three were recalled for the following Premier League match at home to Bolton: which Blues won 3-0, with Lampard among the scorers.
But asked if he ever doubts himself and the decisions he makes, the Blues manager replied: “No, not at all.
“You just have to ask the questions to find the root of the problem. I think about my decision-making.”
And pushed on whether his team selections in those matches were correct, Villas-Boas said: “For sure. They were two different games.”
Chelsea fans made their loyalty to the English midfield hero clear on Saturday, singing 'Super Frankie Lampard' throughout the game. Lampard reacted by applauding all corners of the ground upon the full-time whistle.
So would Villas-Boas ever take into consideration the feelings of Chelsea fans towards senior players in picking the team?
“No, I don't,” said the coach. “First of all, it is not related, because they sing his name all the time. I take no instructions from anybody.”
