IT looked like it could have been the shortest marriage in history.
Just minutes after being pictured beaming in her wedding dress among fans outside Stamford Bridge football ground, new bride Hannah Booth was snapped on a District line Tube, head in hands and apparently crying.
The shots swept Twitter, leaving users perplexed about what had gone wrong for Hannah, dubbed the ‘Stamford Bridge Bride’. But the mystery can be explained and it is rather less dramatic than feared - she was as sick as a parrot after drinking too much champagne.
Hannah and new husband Christian, from Chertsey, were surprised at their wedding in Weybridge when they were presented with tickets to Chelsea vs Liverpool later that day. With Christian, a mad Blues fan, and Hannah, a Liverpool supporter, the couple jumped at the chance to visit the Bridge.
With the deal that they had to watch in their wedding gear, they arrived at the ground among hordes of fans, who wasted no time in asking to get their picture taken with the happy couple, while supporters in The Shed end of the stadium chanted about having a 'honeymoon in Chelsea'.
Christian, 27, said: "It was amazing and a fantastic present. The atmosphere was brilliant and it was fantastic going to Stamford Bridge on the day of our wedding."
Champagne flowed and the effects kicked in a few minutes after the final whistle. Despite looking like she was alone on the Tube, Christian wasn't far from Hannah, who started to feel sick and was snapped by passenger Scott Lavell, who works for Soccer AM.
Despite the hiccup(s), the couple are still basking in the first flush of marriage. Hannah said: "It was a brilliant day but unfortunately I'd just had a bit too much champagne. Going to Stamford Bridge was perfect - we couldn't afford a honeymoon so this was the next best thing."
Fittingly, not even the score of the match ruined the newlyweds' day - it finished a more than fair 1-1.
