Shepherd's Bush model aims for Mr England title

A SHEPHERD'S Bush student is hoping to swap the classroom for the catwalk after reaching the final stages of the Mr England competition.
Jarryd Gordon, 20, of Lakeside Road, is hoping to go all the way after being named in the final 12 for the national finals in September.
He has only been modelling for two years after his friends and family recommended he give it a shot and he has been delighted with the results.
He said: "A lot of people were saying that I should go into modelling and it seemed like a good idea. It was not something I ever really thought about but they were saying it so much that I started to believe I could do it.
"Now I am really enjoying it and it is going really well. I was with an agency for a long time but it was not really working out. So I have been on my own for a few months and I seem to be getting a lot more work."
Jarryd is one year into a sports science degree at St Mary's University, in Twickenham, and is desperate to make sure he finishes his course in case his modelling dream is not achieved.
But studying and keeping up the model looks is no easy task.
He said: "I am working hard at uni to make sure I have something to fall back on. I am just trying to keep all my options open.
"I always have to make sure I look after myself so I tend to train about four to five times a week in the gym and eat the right food. That is probably the hardest part."
Jarryd, impressed Mr England judges with a selection of submitted pictures before being invited for a photo shoot in Leicester.
But the aspiring model is already topping the live voting polls out of the 12 finalists and is hoping to be one of only three who will make it through.
He said: "It is tough competition with only three going through so it will be really amazing if I cam do it. I am excited about the chance to get there and I really hope I can make it."
